Hand blown glass is often a good choice for smaller-sized globes or pieces which need a fitter or a flared end. Wood or metal molds can be used in the process to give consistent shape and dimension as shown in these pieces. Call us for specifications of our molds in stock. Frit, or crushed glass, can be fused into a solid sheet of glass then bent into the desired shape. At K Dahl Glass, we have been using this type of glass to create pendants, lenses, chandeliers and sconces. Custom colors & textures are available. |

Bent glass half-cylinders and half-cone shapes can be used to form large scale cylinders for lighting applications. Bending glass is a process whereby a blank of sheet glass is placed on a stainless steel, sheet steel or cast iron mold in a glass furnace, or kiln. The kiln temperature is increased until the glass sheet sinks into or over the mold. Round pipe or square tubing may be used for molds. |
